Pink Saturday Tutu Photo Session

Pssst! Who is that? Could it be the next top model? Well, maybe! It's Dear Bebe during her photo shoot we had done a couple of weeks ago. Look how she is pointing her toe already.... tee hee.

I waited to show you the photo I took during the session because I thought it would be perfect for PINK SATURDAY!

I can't wait to see how the shots turned out. We had a pretty pink feathery tiara but Dear Bebe didn't like it on her head! (You can see it ended up on the floor in the first picture.) I also brought my pair of ballet (pointe) shoes to add as a prop. I think the photographer, Heather, managed to get a quick photo of them in Bebe's hands. She does a WONDERFUL job.

And a thank you to Dear Hubs for coming along with us so we could get a family photo too! Here he is pictured with her, off to the side, in case she toppled over. Still not crawling yet!

Hope you're all having a great day. For more Pink Fun, check out Beverly's blog at

Mabel's Labels: A Big Thank You!

Dear Bebe was only about 6 months along in Mommy's tummy when she started accumulating stuff. At first it was just a little teeny sweater here, and a little teeny pair of shoes there.

Then we had our baby shower...and the STUFF started producing like bunnies.

I still can't believe how many things she has.

Well, I am thrilled to say...I now am the proud user of MABEL's LABELS! They were sent to me by Dear Dear MJ of
MJ's Sputterings. She is a huge advocate of them...as you can see in her humor filled post here.

In the package that arrived are these neat things:

Dog tag like labels (nice, strong, metal material)
Shoe labels (genius!)
Bag Tags
and Tag Mates

And she selected some pretty colors (pink, what else?) I'd show them to you but I do have to white out the name to protect the innocent. Haha!

Trust me, they're great! And if you make a purchase you can help this
special school fundraiser, too.

A win win for all.

Now I'm off to go finish checking out the rest of Dear Bebe's things to see what I can label. Oh, it just occurred to me...Dear Hubs and Dear Bebe have the same initial! If he's not careful he might get labeled!

To Twitter, To Twitter, Too Tweet!

I did it! I joined the popular trend, Twitter. I said I wasn't going to and I did. Why? Just curious I guess!

It's my latest experiment I really don't have time for but am going to try anyway. Should be interesting. So far I've joined, logged on, added a photo, changed my twitter background to pink polka dots (surprised?) and added about 18 followers. Oh, and I added TWITTER to my Jillian's Pages sidebar. For my first two days I'm totally impressed with my Twittering Tweets!

I'd love to be able to twitter from my cell phone ...then I realized that could start to add up on the cell phone bill! Dear Hubs will not like this AT ALL. Maybe I ought to just twait a bit before I go too twazy. Ha!

Follow along with me if you care to see how it works...I'm twying it out to twee if I like it!

You can see me twitter on my side bar...

So far, I think it is great! Anyone else twittering out there? Anyone want to try it with me? Go ahead and tell me what you twink! (I couldn't resist that last one.)

Stand By Me

Yesterday I added some "vintage" photos to my Facebook page...I wanted to share this photo, among others with family and friends. This photo in particular I sent to the son of my Father's best friend. My Dad is the tall guy in the middle. His friend is to the left of him. I think they had been friends since they were about 5 years old. They were so close my Sister and I called him "Uncle." Unfortunately Uncle P passed away about 9 years ago. My Dad misses him a lot.

I love this photo. Three scruffy kids, taking a break to pose. Not sure who took the picture, maybe my Grandmother. It captures a moment in time that I wasn't able to see.

It definitely reminds me of the movie "Stand By Me."

Even the glasses are the same!

Not sure which "character" my Dad would have been. I'm guessing the lead role, narrated by Richard Dreyfuss as an older man.

Either way, the photo is a great snapshot and I love looking back in time, especially a time I missed when my parents were young!

Down on the Farm

When we can, we love to get away to Dear Hubby's family farm. Dear Bebe was excited and ready to go with a big smile on her face because there are so many great things to see. Grandma and Grandpa are two of them!

But for some reason here, Dear Bebe couldn't turn her frown upside down to Grandma's dismay.

So Grandpa said "Let ME try!" And Dear Bebe thought he was a hoot!
Whooie!

There are all kinds of neat things to see nestled in and around the farm.

Isn't this bird house charming?

Also nestled by a tree, one of their newest "baby" calves.

I think just a couple of years ago these were the baby calves...they grow fast!

A close up shot for ya! Moooooooooo!

A serene photo symbolic of the relaxing way life is on the farm.
Uh, when all the chores are done, that is!
Grandpa goin' to work on his John Deere tractor.

Grandma loves to hunt for antiques. This was her latest find. Beautiful!

Hope you enjoyed a visit to the farm. Maybe we'll get to go back again this summer!

Amazing Grace ~ A Song to Lead Us Home

I'm taking a short break from posting about our trip to the family farm to do a Spiritual Sunday post. A thank you to Charlotte and Ginger for hosting this for us!

Today I'm focusing on a song we all know, Amazing Grace:

"Amazing grace! how sweet the sound, That saved a wretch like me!"
"I once was lost, but now am found, Was blind, but now I see.
'Twas grace that taught my heart to fear, And grace my fears relieved;
How precious did that grace appear The hour I first believed!
Through many dangers, toils and snares, I have already come;'
Tis grace has brought me safe thus far, And grace will lead me home."

A beautiful song indeed, but did you know the history behind it? Click here to read what Wikipedia has about the song and the author, John Newton. I've also found a wonderful website here which I'd love to grab a section from and repeat it for Spiritual Sunday:

People from all walks of life have expressed their feelings about "Amazing Grace." Some of these statements follow:

"It gets to the heart of man."

"It allows you to reach down into yourself."

"It is a song of reconciliation...and of hope."

"It helps you to see a better day."

"It makes a difference in your life."

"While you are singing it, you are free!"

"It's more than a song."

"It is the pearl of spiritual songs."

"Amazing Grace" has undergone many changes over the 200+ years of its existence. Both the melody and the verses have evolved through time, altered to fit the changing needs of people all over the world. New verses have been written, sometimes straight "out of others' lives," which makes it a song that is truly "alive." It is more popular today than it has ever been.

In 1996 the Music Educators National Conference compiled a list of songs that they believe all Americans should be able to sing in order to preserve an important part of the national culture. One of those songs was "Amazing Grace."

No other hymn in the world has been recorded more often than "Amazing Grace."

This song is so popular because it is undeniable ... we can all relate to it. None of us are perfect. We all know what it is like to feel like a wretch. But until we understand and KNOW God's grace we can't fully sing this song with the emotion it is written about...like in John Newton's case. We may not all have experienced a near death experience on a sailing sihp, but haven't we experienced life's storms? And once we realize we have been forgiven and accepted God's grace, this song takes on a new level. A level that is simply, Amazing.

A Trip to Hometown, USA

We've been away for a few days...Dear Hubby had a few days off so we decided to take a trip to the family farm up north to see Dear Bebe's Grandma and Grandpa. There's always so much to see and do up there so I am picture plenty with lots to share. I'll probably have to do another post or two to fit it all in!

I'm skipping ahead into the trip because I couldn't wait to show n tell! Today's post is about my special shopping trip I was able to enjoy with my Dear Mother-in-Law.
She loves antiques as much as we do so this was a lot of fun. And she knew exactly where to go.

Is this street great or what? It is picturesque like "Hometown USA." I fully expected to see a band, baton twirlers, and some homemade apple pie!

We stopped in almost all of the gift shops and a Mommy n Me store. I found a couple of cute dresses for Dear Bebe.

There was one store in particular that I had been to before and had loved it immediately. It was still there so we of course, had to take a look. It's called Oui Three Antiques. These gals have the best vintage taste and they display their items so well. It's just too cute. Take a look with me:

A great way to display white...

I just loved this pink-n- green arrangement with all of the porcelain roses.

I can't help but stop when I see old hat pins, vanities and displays of vintage jewelry.

And I saw this and wanted to take a photo...look how nice this was done using

a needlepoint cover. Beautiful! There was just so many things I loved in this shop...I did make a few purchases, of course. I'll show you those in another post.

And as we were leaving I happened to pass by this little shop. Adorable! We'll have to check it out another time. We had run out of time and had to get back and get lunch ready for "the boys" and Dear Bebe!

I was so happy to be able to spend an afternoon shopping with my Dear MIL.

Stay tuned for my next post about fun on the family farm!

The Fun Part

When I was a teenager I started taking a closer look at vintage things. All I had to do was check out all of my Grandmother's collectibles.
It seems as though I haven't stopped "checking things out." I'm still buying, collecting, and sorting.

But I think now the part I enjoy is making them ready to find new homes. I love it! The excitement of not knowing which piece will tickle someone's fancy.

Could it be this?

Or these?

You just never know. And that's the fun part. If you like checking as much as I do...take a look at my latest listings on Bella Rosa Antiques.

How I'm finding time to do this while taking care of Dear Bebe is beyond me. Luckily she is still taking good naps!

Australia ~ The Movie Review

Australia, the latest movie Dear Hubs and I have had time to watch and unfortunately I think it was a waste of it.

It had SO MUCH potential. The director tried to make it so many things...and did not follow the K.I.S.S theory. Keep it Simple Stupid!

The story is about a British woman (Nicole Kidman) who "inherits" a cattle ranch in Australia and discovers her cattle is being stolen out from under her. She then hires Mr. Single hot guy (Hugh Jackman) to help her save the day. It's a story about a little aborigine boy who needs a family and a possible adoption. It's also a story about how the Japanese bombed their islands after having bombed our Pearl Harbor. (This was an interesting historical fact I did not even know and would have made a great movie.) If they had just stuck to one of the themes it may have helped. But to make matters worse, they also threw in a weird Wizard of Oz tie in which I didn't seem to get. . . WHY?

The final straw after seeing so many Wizard of Oz cliches throughout the flick was when dear Hugh utters "There's no place like it" after Nicole Kidman says we're home!

Ugh!

Didn't he think this was the worst line written for a movie EVER? What was Nicole Kidman thinking when she agreed to do this film? Did she read the script?

It was so bad in my opinion it gets the lowest popcorn rating I've given to date:

Why the half of a popcorn you ask? Well, Hugh Jackman is sweet eye candy!

Tell me what you thought of the movie, or any other film you've seen recently. And to any of you who really liked Australia, my apologies for tossing this one far far into the Australian outback...where it belongs. Maybe if I click my heels three times, it will get better.

Spiritual Sunday ~ What God Sees

This devotional was written by Leslie Snyder

Do You See What I See?

But the Lord said to Samuel, "Do not look on his appearance or on the height of his stature, because I have rejected him. For the Lord sees not as man sees; man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart." —1 Samuel 16:7

According to research at Cambridge University, it doesn’t matter in what order the letters in a word are, the only important thing is that the first and last letter be in the right place. The rest can be a total mess and you can still read it without a problem. This is because the human mind does not read every letter by itself, but the word as a whole.

Give the theory a shot, and see if it’s true:

Aoccdrnig to rscheearch at Cmabrigde Uinervtisy, it deosn't mttaer in waht oredr the ltteers in a wrod are, the olny iprmoatnt tihng is taht the frist and lsat ltteer be in the rghit pclae. The rset can be a taotl mses and you can sitll raed it wouthit a porbelm. Tihs is bcuseae the huamn mnid deos not raed ervey lteter by istlef, but the wrod as a wlohe.

Isn’t it amazing? I love this illustration of how the mind works to put words together. It goes against everything I was taught in grade school and totally ends the need for spell check! It’s the perfect example that confirms what you see may not be what you get.

Here’s a reminder: God is searching our hearts. He doesn’t care about our outward appearances. In fact, many of us have gotten so good at hiding who we really are that even we don’t recognize our true selves. And, it’s often Christians who put masks on so quickly, fearing that if other people really knew them, they would be rejected, condemned, or cast aside like yesterday’s paper.

Today, if you are hiding behind a mask, afraid to reveal your true self, allow God to peel back the layers in order to find your true self…the one that was made in the image of God.
