A Stroll in the Park

This weekend dear hubs and I decided to go see the new Indiana Jones movie. We also decided to try a new theatre we had never been to before. It wasn't too close to our house and we drove for awhile before we arrived. And we arrived just in time for the movie to start. (This is typical.)

I rush up to the ticket windows as DH is parking (to save time of course) only to discover the movie had been SOLD OUT. (Economy must not be too bad around here?) Anyway, we didn't want to see anything else so we got back in the car. Sigh. Now what?

We drove around and ended up in one of the sweetest little towns in our area of Pennsylvania. And what better plan B than getting a homemade ice cream. Mmmmmm. Then we took a stroll in the town park. (To walk off the calories, ha ha.) It ended up being a very impromptu, relaxing evening. Isn't that the way life is? You think you have a plan in mind...but it doesn't always seem to work out the way we want it to.

Or does it?

Just like Forest Gump said, "Life is like a box of chocolates..." So nice your evening turned from disappointment to happiness. Can we ask for more?

Very philosophical question you asked. There's a vintage French song that states: "What do you want old man: in life we do what we can, not what we want."

The ice cream was a great backup! Sounded like a lovely evening.

Hello from New York, Jillian! You have a lovely blog.

I love serendipity! Your day was probably better than the movie would have been!

That sounds like heaven to me. And you are SO right. Whenever I plan anything, it never turns out as well as when I just go with the flow.

Don't ya just LOVE it when a wonderful evening happens as the result of your first plan not working out? WELL, my husband and I decided to go to our little theater on the Square and see Indy, too. This is the greatest spot---a little secret, cuz most folks hit the big gazillion plus screen theaters around here, but we love to go to the "old" spot on the Square. The screens are not the biggest and the seats are not the big old high back ones seen in the newer locations, but the price is cheap, it's not crowded and it is just darned cute. Anyway, we arrived to grab out tickets and watch HF in his newest INDY release and wouldn't ya know---the joint was SOLD OUT. Well, we left and just started driving and ended up in downtown KC, MO and had dinner at the most wonderful spot! It is the Majestic Steakhouse---been there forever, but we'd never gone to it. We had the most relaxing and delicious evening we'd had in ages and the food was fabulous. So I guess I also owe such a treat to HF for being so darned popular---even if he is an old guy! We still haven't seen the movie--it'll probably be on DVD before we do!

Hi Jillian,
Homemade ice creame sounds YUMMY! We just picked up an old ice cream maker w/elec. motor (w/wooden bucket) at the thrift store for the ripe old price of $2.50, now awaiting DH to make some.
And yes the most unplanned moments can be nice, the elec. went out w/bad storm the other night & had candles and hung out w/kids, took a walk..just enjoyed the storm together! hugs, Carol
